I’m here today to help you out with something I thought I’d never say. Well, kind of. Me being a college student I’m READY to be done going to class, I’m READY to stop having to read mandatory readings, and I’m READY to relax. However, I’m challenging myself to not get lazy when I graduate. I never want to get comfortable with where I am. I want to always continue to better myself and learn how to do things better and more efficiently.
I started my business barely over a year ago. With that being said, looking at my first engagement shoot to the wedding I shot last weekend there is SUCH a difference. It was hardly a year apart. Honestly, I’m a little embarrassed by my first shoot because I have come so far. But I am really encouraged by that. I have pushed myself so hard to learn new techniques and how to use my equipment better and what works best for me.
I guess what I’m saying is I can relate to a lot of people who are finishing up school and never want to open a book again because I’m burnt out. I can honestly say I never want to go back to school. I don’t think I will, and that gives me relief. (I’m not going to say never because that usually means its going to happen). But with that being said, don’t let being burnt out kill your desire to learn.
In the last year I’ve signed up for many different online photography courses, and taken a full course load every semester. But I’ve learned a ton, I’ve been more excited to learn my photography stuff, but thats a given since it is my passion and what I adore doing. But I really love learning about investments, and I kind of really enjoy doing taxes. (who am i?) Theres a lot of things I enjoy doing, but if I didn’t try in school and put myself out there I would have never known that.
So I guess what I’m saying is to you sitting there reading this, if you’re comfortable with what you’re doing, you need to start throwing yourself out there and learning more, and trying to grow yourself because mediocrity is so 2010. 😉
Whether its your finance books, photography courses, or just reading the paper or watching the news, learn. Work hard. Be awesome.
